Salary:
- $40,000 base salary
- $10,000(+) incentive package based on enrollment
Responsibilities:
- Re-establish school routines, policies, and procedures to care for students in a healthy, loving, and nurturing Christian environment
- Hire and manage staff, including an anticipated 2 head teachers, 2 teaching assistants, substitutes, and volunteers. Invest in and oversee continued staff professional development
- Establish play-based modern classroom routines and curriculum based on national best practices
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents of current and prospective students
- Focus on increasing enrollment as the community adjusts to the post-COVID environment
- Manage the school budget, including ordering supplies and managing petty cash
- In cooperation with the NSAB, establish a long-term vision for building SCBNS into a preeminent early childhood education program in Westchester County
- Maintain compliance with all New York state requirements for nursery schools (NYSED Chapter II Regulations, Section 125)
- Coordinate with the SCBC Sextant (maintenance) and Board of Trustees to identify and plan for facility upkeep and improvement investments
- Work with Pastor and Director of Family Ministries on integrating Christian practices (prayer and Bible stores, etc.) into the curriculum
Desired Skills and Experience:
EDUCATIONAL
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education N-6 or similar
- New York State certificate or equivalent in early childhood education, kindergarten, elementary education N-6 or K-6, or substantially equivalent instruction and experience
- At least 2-5 years teaching experience
SALES AND MARKETING
- Build enrollment by marketing the school online and in person
- Focus on increasing enrollment in a post-COVID environment
- Plan, schedule and execute 3-4 open houses per year plus follow-up
- Plan, schedule and execute several family functions per year, e.g. picnics, holiday events
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Proficient with technology, including basic website updates, email, and social media
- Maintain accurate record-keeping (e.g. children’s files, faculty files)
- Plan and implement a program for professional growth for self and staff
- Prepare periodic reports on the state of the School and attend monthly NSAB meetings
- Maintain compliance with all New York state requirements for nursery schools (NYSED Chapter II Regulations, Section 125)
FISCAL
- Create and operate the school budget and manage petty cash
- Arrange for maintenance and repairs and purchase equipment and supplies
PERSONNEL
- Hire and manage staff schedule, including teachers, teaching assistants, and substitutes
- Schedule and run monthly staff meetings
- Ensure that all staff maintain relevant training and emergency preparedness
PROGRAM, CURRICULUM, and PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Establish play-based modern classroom routines and curriculum based on national best practices and Christian values
- Keep abreast of research and development in the field of early childhood development
- Arrange for community visitors such as Fire and Police Departments, Dentist, etc.
Provide faculty assistance with lesson plan preparation, theme development, curriculum and scheduled monthly classroom observations
